Wireless Connections
TAMULink is Texas A&M University's campus wireless network. The network primarily uses Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) for security and easy access for Texas A&M faculty, staff and students. Wireless LAN (802.11b/g) services are available at a variety of locations across campus. Any machine configured for use with TAMULink will be able to communicate at any of the TAMULink locations. To request installation of Wireless LAN coverage for a new area, or to expand existing coverage, send an email to request@tamu.edu. To determine cost, a site-survey will be done for each case. Many considerations are involved in determining the number of wireless access points needed for the desired coverage. Building construction, area to be covered, shape of the building, and throughput capacity are just some of the variables that can make a significant difference in the number of access points necessary.
